Arlington, Ohio. 8-25-2013. About the size of a soft ball. Just moved into an old top bar hive that is headed to the burn pile. Swarm was new as there was only a quarter sized bit of comb started.

Transferred them to a 5 frame medium nuc box. Going to feed them heavily and add some brood from another hive later in the week.

Top bar has been empty of bees for over a year. One can see what happens when left empty for that period of time. Surprised the bees even moved in.

Two swarm calls this morning. Zip 43023. First was at Wild Wood Park in Granville. Swarm was in a small maple, cut limb they were on and put it in box, will return this evening to pick them up, 2nd was about 10 miles away on the side of a horse trailer, brushed them in a box and will return later to get them. Two very easy swarms wish they were all like that. Wish I could remember to take pictures but I see the bees and all I can think about is getting them in a box. (LOL) Must be old age.

Scouts checking a trap. Don't think its from my apiary; they're flying the opposite way. No activity at trap in my apiary. This one is a couple hundred yards away. Marietta, Ohio

Two 3 lb. after swarms in the same low apple tree.
Each had its own queen, virgins I suspect. The swarms were about 10" apart.

    Two swarms in one tree.
One 3-4lb. and one small 1-2lb.
The bigger swarm had two queens and the smaller only had one.
