Swarms: May 27th escaped capture, June 10th Caught, June 16th Caught. One hive swarmed earlier in May but at a beeyard I do not get to very often so I do not when exactly--but probably the first week of May.

just got a call about this swarm. looks like they've built some comb on the side of the house but don't appear to be going into the soffit through the vents. the guy asked that i come back this evening so he could be there to watch. yikes. never had an audience before. hopefully they'll be in their new home at our house tonight.

ETA they're now in a hive at our house. hope they stay. nice size swarm about the size of a soccer ball probably.

Just picked up two swarms today! One was a relatively easy cut-out and beevac, the other was in a wood box in the barn--just shook them into my bucket!

So, just caught this swarm and, this one, this one…very swarmy weather up here. I started the season with 7/8 hives over wintered. The winter was so cold and long I thought, there wasn't a hope in hell they would winter well so, I ordered 4 nucs. That made 11, I wanted 12 hives and 8 nucs to end the season in the fall. I notice I made a mistake in the math and really wanted 16 hives & 8 nucs. This swarm was hive 31 and according to bee math, …thats just about how many I wanted…yeah, yeah, well, there's a couple old boxes…I have no life...

My hat goes off to the beeks that catch swarms because, they are a ton of work (some of them anyways). To secure into a new home, I can spend hours trying to get a swarm into a box. For me next year, Bee vac is top of the list. I think of the hours I could have spent making boxes and the other wooden ware. I have blown entire Saturdays, chasing swarms around the yard…

And now...I think of the threads I have read about swarmy genes, these are all swarms or, swarm cells…apparently, i am schit at making honey but man, can I make bees…

June 22, 2013. Mattapoisett, MA (02739). I sauntered out to my 3 hives mid-morning (1000h) and as I was walking back noticed a swarm (mine) 15' up in a maple. It covered ~ 3' of branch and was 10-12" deep (hanging) in one part. Had to have been 4-5 lbs. They had ignored a bait hive 40' away. I ran to my truck, grabbed some LGO and ran back to place the bait hive under the swarm - but they were already airborne (!?!?!?) and I watched them fly across my neighbor's yard and over the tree line to the south - poof! I assume they had clustered the day prior and were just warming up - in the morning sun. **** it!

04468 Old Town, ME Found a swarm hanging in a birch tree about 20 feet from my bee yard. Tried to capture it, but it moved to a maple tree about 60 feet up upon being disturbed. I went through all of my hives today, and see no lack of population anywhere...no idea from whence it came.

Pretty sure they weren't from any of mine but 24 hours after I swapped out a trap box/nuc 7' up an old maple tree, a swarm moved in (day before yesterday).

We caught a swarm on 06-28 in northern VA. It was hanging out in a 6-foot sapling about 10 feet away from the entrance of the hive it split from.

caught this package-sized swarm from a fence rail maybe 9" off the ground. slid the box under the cluster and brushed them right into the box. took 10 minutes tops. easy peesy. i want more like this one. they're in a box at home with some window screen over the top for ventilation waiting to go into their new home after dark tonight.
