May 12th, mothers day swarm @ 81212. Landed in a sage brush 20' from the parent hive. Secondary swarm from same parent hive on May 14th. Captured the first, couldn't locate the second.

Thumbs Up Re: Please Post your Swarm Dates?

Amazing... got home from hiving one swarm and just settling down and got a call from 4 miles away for a 4-pounder 6' off the ground in a bushy little fir tree. Into the catcher box and back home in an hour. Into a hive tomorrow after I set up some frames.

Observation hive swarmed at 15:45. Not happy and friendly either! Put my veil on and went to get some footage and took a dart to each arm. I will hive them later after they settle down. In full protection too LAWL!

03226 - (Center Harbor, NH) First swarm of the season mid-day today, regrettably outbound. They laughed at my lemon-scented swarm traps as they headed for the hills.

My first swarm ever: today 5/19/2013. Oldham County, KY 40077. Had a swarm trap in the crook of a tree and they moved in today. I have no idea if they came from my own hives or not. I'm happy!!

Swarm today 5/21/13 Pottstown 19465 Probably 4-5 pound. Gone before I got there. There were scout bees still flying around the tree where they were when I got there and the owner had pictures of the swarm.

got my very first swarm call today from a local beekeeper/honey supplier. of course i couldn't drop it all right then and go due to work. went about 1.5 hours later to see if they were still there, and another beek was just coming down out of the tree with a nice package-sized swarm.

i was honestly glad it was him and not me. the call said 10' up in a tree, but it was more like 25' up in a tree. don't think my ladder would have reached them.
I'm the dude, so that's what you call me.

    Zip 13210 - Syracuse, NY
5/18 - Called for a large swarm 12' up in a pine tree. Arrived onsite only 1 hour after swarms arrival, but it had already moved on.
5/19 - Called about a swarm 15' up on the side of a retail building. Swarm arrived the day before (I suspect the same one as above, as the two spots are less than 1 mile apart.) Got some in the box, but the rest moved on on 5/20.
5/20 - Basketball sized swarm 10' up in pine tree, parent colony just 20' away. Present since 5/19... just as we positioned the ladder to collect them, they burst into flight. Followed them to a neighbors tree where they settled again. Dropped a good bunch in the box, and left them to get back to work. Returned a few hours later, and they had all left.

2 for 2 on misses this year... call it dumb luck!

Just caught a swarm from one of my hives around 3:00 this afternoon. It was about the size of a soccer ball in a branch about 30-35 feet high. I am half tempted to cut down every tree on my property that is over 10 feet tall.
