Zip 28546...zone 8a. Partly cloudy day, 70 F, 10 AM. A football size swarm was forming 15 ft up on a tree branch in the back of my yard. Got up on a ladder, and shook the whole branch in a nuc. Saw the queen on the outside wall of the nuc. I grabbed her and placed it on a frame inside. In the mean time it started drizzling a bit, which made them get in the nuc faster...So far, so good...they seem to have accepted their new "home".

Zip 28574, Richlands NC, ...68 F, about 3 PM, cloudy with some storms brewing. Got to my yard into the woods and a football size swarm was hanging nice on a tree branch, about 20 feet away from my hives. Placed it in a nuc box and we'll see what tomorrow brings

Zip 28546...Friday March 30, about 2 PM...A split I made 12 days ago, swarmed on me. Football size...way up in the tallest pine tree I have in the yard.
Started raining in the evening, some T-storms all night. Saturday AM, showers and they are still up in the pine tree. I can only see them with my binoculars. I do have 3 swarm traps baited with lemon grass oil and some old comb I just got scattered in my yard ...But they chose the highest, most exposed place they could find. I wish I could get up that high...Oh well.

First swarm of the year 3-4 # in size. Captured on 3/30/12 in Valdese, NC 28690. Saw them coming out of the Russian hive and had them land in a bush 2 feet of the ground. Weather was 68 degrees with a 5 mph south wind and they emerged at 12 noon.

28546 NC...2 of my hives. One hugging a small maple tree, about 5 feet from the ground...one at the of a 20 ft pine tree. After being there through a night of rain and wind, they went into the nuc boxes right away. Both swarms just about filled the 5 deep frame nuc boxes. So far, 5 of my hives have swarmed 15-18 days after being split.....

Lost a swarm from one of my hives in the last few days. Didn't catch or see it, just evidence in the hive.

    Zip 28574...USDA Zone 8.
Had a few hives that started swarm preparations around March 10.
Split them all...but today, 55 F temps and very windy, right under my nose, one of them has thrown three swarms...each with his own virgin...all three landed on the same "lucky" tree, in nice, very well defined, separate clusters.
