Caught a swarm in the big magnolia in my front yard yesterday, a bit larger than a football. Winds at 15-20, with gusts of ~30.

Missed a swarm from one of my hives yesterday. My wife called me at work as she was watching. She said that they formed a column from the hive up 30 ft., then took off. She followed as far as she could, but couldn't keep up. I looked for them when I got home, to no avail.

    23 March 2012. Glennville, GA 30427. 1:00 PM. 90 degrees F.
Got a swarm call from the police chief about 1:00 yesterday, but I was working over an hour away at the time. I called my wife and asked if she wanted to catch her first swarm, and she agreed. I gave her a list of everything she needed to get the job done, and gave her a few tips on how to go about it. The swarm was covering a newly place 10 gal. flower pot filled with fresh flowers at the local florist shop. She brushed and scooped all that she could, and ended up cutting the plants and putting bees and all in the box. As she was working, a journalist for the local paper showed up to cover the story for next week's edition.
Altogether, she experienced her first swarm removal, will be in the paper next week, got a new hive of bees, and through the newspaper article, will get some free advertisement for our new business. Can't beat that with a stick!

Swarm crossed my backyard today, feb 9, 2013. I heard them from inside. They look to be setting up housekeeping in a large oak across street. I have put out a storm trap.

My neighbor had one yesterday afternoon 3/24/15, around 80 degrees F. This one was In Hahira Ga. Also one moved into a tree at work, every year they move in this tree in the spring and abandon it in late summer. Then they just reappear out of nowhere.
