Re: Please Post your Swarm Dates?
17 March. I saw them staging on a bush abt 15 feet from the hive at abt noon. By the time I could get equipped to rebox them, later that afternoon, they were gone. Temp was mid 70s, sunny. Location is 31639, south Georgia.

Two more swarms from bee yard today...only have 4 full Hives and one very young split.
As we were getting the second swarm, they all flee back to the hive. Guess they thought it a mean world out there. Placed a hive box with scent next to the box trying to swarm. Someone told me the reason they went back was the queen had not yet left the hive. Funny, we thought she was the first to go!

No swqarms or swarm cells here in South Carolina yet. Nectar and pollen coming in, but not strongly. Not the nectar anyway.

Re: Please Post your Swarm Dates?
Saw my first swarm last Thursday, March 17. I put up 3 swarm boxes the week before. Today, March 21, I checked the boxes and it appears that I actually have 3 swarms. There is a commercial beekeeper right down the road. Nothing like free bees!

I caught four of my own swarms first of this week and finally caught a swarm from somewhere else yesterday. A nice sized swarm about as big as a volley ball. 32205

Re: Please Post your Swarm Dates?
Woohoo! Captured my first swarm of the season yesterday 3/25 in Houston at the airport. It was a big one. I placed them in a 5 frame nuc with a frame that had fresh eggs, honey and pollen and 4 empty frames. We'll see if they stick around-

They did not like the neighborhood. Packed up and left March 26 about 5pm. I had a trap baited with a lure, they never even looked at it. As someome said, bees will be bees.

Approximately 4 pound swarm at state capitol grounds. In a camellia bush about 18 inches above the ground, taped off with caution tape. Nice easy capture, was not able to cut the branch but one good shake dropped the cluster into my nuke box.

Got a call from city police about a swarm yesterday. Very easy to get but got one caught in my short glove...I got stung and it died. The swarm was my largest since becoming a bee person. Nice!

Had a 2 super hive with frames only in top box and used lemon grass oil as lure. Hive set up in front yard. Large swarm darkened the sky as they came in and landed on the hive and proceeded to move in.
