Discovered a swarm occupied one of the bait boxes 5 June, hadn't checked this box for about a week so I'm not sure how long they've been in residence.

6-16-14 zip 62278 South Western Illinois
Weather has been rainy most of the week

Moved a bait box with no activity to where I had captured a swarm earlier this month. Had a small swarm, maybe 2lb, land less than two feet behind my head while trying to install the box; transferred them into the box since it was getting dark. Shocked is an understatement.

had to be at least 6 - 7 lb. 70, sunny and a little breezy.

West Central IL - 5-17 1:00 p.m. partly sunny, day after big storms. Large 8 LB swarm 25' up in a tree. Can't get to them safely, so will let nature take it's course. Attempting to bait them down. Second swarm on a call. 10 miles away. Volleyball size captured and housed. On a low branch in a neighborhood. Temps in the 70's.

    What is needed:

    • zip code, city or county
    • date when the bees swarmed or when you found the swarm.
    • comments - example: if the swarm came from your hive, or if you were called to pick up a swarm, how long was it there. This is not for cutouts unless the bees just took up residence and are not established. It would also be great to include a small photo of the swarm.

This forum is not for general discussion.
    Regards, Barry
