    Default swarms?

29651 8/10/2008 I had a couple of hives open today and it seems like a strong hive swarmed into a weaker one. I guess the new queen will kill the old queen, I will know because the old queen is clipped. This is the second time I had a swarm when I had a hive open. Today I thought they were robbing so I put an entrance reducer in front of the weak hive and they bearded in front of the hive. Any body else have something like this happen while a hive was open?

Swarm captured Sept. 06, 2008 in banana magnolia (Michelia figo).

Small, maybe 1.5 lb swarm at my home. Hived in nuc.

Sept. 8th. inspection I found queen laying. Gustav likely caused them to swarm from their orignal feral colony.

Our hive swarmed on Sunday 5/3/09. We caught the swarm in a screened box and released the bees into a nearby forest area.
