    Location: Central Indiana
Weather: Clear blue skies, Low 80's
    Date: Saturday, May 12th
Origin of swarm: My hive. I thought I had gone "by the book" as far as swarm-prevention measures, but, off into the woods they went (avoiding the two empty hives I had sitting nearby, waiting for my packages to arrive).

A swarm made a home in a swarm trap about 5/12/2007. Bless them, they took the one easiest to move. Must be a big one as busy as it is in front of the hive. Zip 46131 (Franklin).
Come in May, here to stay,
Come in June, none too soon,
    July, let 'um fly.

I got a swarm call this morning. 2nd swarm call this year. 1st call was three weeks ago. This swarm was probably about 3 to 4 lbs. Today was the 2nd day of nice weather after many long rainy days in a row.

Took my 10 year old daughter. She loves it.

Just got my 4th feral swarm this year. 72 degrees F sunny after a night of rain. Clinton County, Indiana. Easiest swarm call out yet. Swarm was on a pine tree small limb that with the weight of the bees brought it down to about 1' off the ground. Clipped the limb into a box, duct taped the box and brought them home and dumped them into their new hive.
    I would guess 3 lbs.

Went on a swarm call yesterday (8/29) and retrieved a softball-sized swarm. Probably will combine it will a weak hive.

As you start seeing swarms in your area perhaps you might reply to this thread so we can track the season?

A simple post of your location, weather, origin of swarm if known, and date would be great.

    Thanks in advance!

4/3/12 just got home in time to see a swarm on the tree behind the bee hive. it was wrapped around the trunck of a skinny tree but not where i could get it. i pulled out an empty hive to sit beside the tree with 2 frames of honey from my other hive but when i came back out to do this they were gone. weather hot close to 80 and sunny.

First swarm today, medium size. They settled in a bush about a foot from the ground. Tough job! Dumped them in a plastic storage box. Dark when I got them home so I'll leave them until morning. About 5 to 6 weeks early for central Indiana I think.

Lat Wednesday, the 18th, I was lucky enough to see my only hive swarm after starting them from a pkg. last year, managed to get them gathered up and into another box that I had spritzed with lemongrass. they’re still in there

impressed and scared silly at the same time

    Indianapolis, IN - 5/1/15

It was a modest sized swarm in my lilac bush. Cut the branch and they seem to be settling into the new home. I checked all my hives and am at a loss as to where it came from. My biggest had no queen cells in it an still has as many bees as it did a few days ago when I last inspected it.

Two swarms from backyard hive. Primary swarm cast and caught April 27 and have filled out a complete 10 frame deep as of May 9. Secondary swarm cast and caught May 7. Assume queen is a virgin and haven't inspected yet. Five frame deep mating nuc swarmed today May 10 and returned 30 minutes later.
