3rd swarm. Hanging on the bottom of a swarm trap at the end of our drive around 6 pm.. They were just starting to move in so I scooped them off and installed in a hive from the truck. About 6-7 lb. It's not one from our hives.

1st swarm of the 2014 season
    Poplar Bluff, MO 63901
Probably issued from one of my colonies.
Found them at 4:30 pm hanging 4' up in a huge cedar tree about 15' from my apaiary
Shook them into a new box and moved them to a place on my hive stand.
About the size of two basketballs

No idea where the swarm originated. Buddy answered a call from his grandfather and went to gather it up.

Collected yesterday in Jefferson City, MO an early issue swarm from one of my hives outside office. I was giving a tour to some 3rd and 4th year Missouri University vet students so got them to walk in and with swarm as it decided between a wild rose or American Holly to land in. Swarm chose the latter. Swarm was relatively large at about 5 lbs.

Caught a swarm from a newly established 5-frame nuc (after two weeks) on 4/29/2015. Had another on 5/1/2015 but it escaped before I could get it. Bourbon, MO 65441.

One moved in to nuc on Monday 5-4-15 took it home Tuesday night. Got a call today and there was another one about the size of a foot ball in the same spot. Dumped them in another nuc and the rest marched right in.
I will be leaving another nuc there tomorrow when I pick this one up.

Received a call last Sunday about a swarm in at tree.
Ran by one of my yards and garbed a swarm trap.
It was to far out and up to shake out.
We hung the trap in the tree as best we could and rebated with lemongrass oil.
They moved in and we brought them home last night.

    What is needed:

    • zip code, city or county
    • date when the bees swarmed or when you found the swarm.
    • comments - example: if the swarm came from your hive, or if you were called to pick up a swarm, how long was it there. This is not for cutouts unless the bees just took up residence and are not established. It would also be great to include a small photo of the swarm.

This forum is not for general discussion.
    Regards, Barry

First swarm call of the season. Didn't make it in time as the swarm was gone before I could get there. Came out of an oak tree in a backyard about 10 feet up.
