    Default broodless

I opened up one of my hives yesterday & while going through each frame, my wife asked me where the brood was? Sure enough there was no brood, eggs or larva. We did find the queen up in the upper brood box.The bees are bringing in necter & pollen. Just wondering whats up.

They swarmed and the new queen is not mated and/or laying yet. Give it another week or two and everything should be fine.

Is this more common than I imagine? The past two years my queens started laying in the first week. This year the first hive I installed, I couldn't find the queen after a week and there was no evidence of her laying eggs. I just got a new queen. Hope I didn't jump the gun.

Was this an over wintered hive or new package?
What this your old queen or a new one?
I think that it is still alittle early for a swarm.
If you have a frame with eggs from another hive, add it.
She may have started laying and then stopped with the weather / resources.
Give them a week or so. I would watch them.
If she is not laying in a week or so, or they have not started rearing her replacement. Remove her and give them another frame with eggs.
    She may have failed.

my nuc and package are both like that too. My package replaced the italian ( marked ) queen with another, and I found my other ( nuc ) queen, but she still hasnt started laying either ???

    Default maybe weather?

My queens in both my overwintered hives started laying what I thought was real late. I blamed the weather.
