Dead brood question

I'm noticing some dead brood being taken out of the hive by the workers. Nothing monumental, but each day I notice a few larval pieces (thorax, etc.) near the entrance or on the ground under it. Is this normal spring cleaning of winter losses? The bees seem fine, have been flying for a month and are very active. No new comb yet but lots of propolizing and plenty of pollen coming in.

It's hygenic behavior. They haul out any larvae that are not quite right for whatever reason. It's a sign the housekeepers are doing their job.
