Priming / Painting questions

Please pardon the questions from a newbie.

Is it really a problem if I at least prime the inside surfaces as well as the outside surfaces of the supers? I like the idea of sealing the wood to try to prevent rot. Then I would paint only the edges and outside.

Will the bees not like it or will the bees seal it enough anyway, etc.?

Thanks.

It is not recommended, and it really is not
needed. The interiors have never been an
issue for me, including many very old used
boxes I have. With the bees wax and propolis
it preserves it without us.

I paint the edges as they are a bit prone to
rot.

No questions require a pardon.... ;)

I have never sealed the inside of a box either but once bought a few boxes that had been varnished inside. They are a lot easier to scrape the burr comb in the honeyhouse when extracting. Can't say it would be worth the time and expense though and I definately wouldn't use an oil based product without allowing a lot of time to air out. Has anyone here tried the 3:1 parafin gum rosin dip? I have heard that they can get a bit tacky in the heat.
