    Question

I am getting low on wire for wiring my frames, and noticed the spool looks like the same spool I use on my mig wire welding machine. So the question is; Does anyone know the typ of welding wire that is used ?
    Thanks scott

    Hi Scottybee,

I'm not sure of the exact type of wire. The wire I have used is just a tinned iron wire.

I have been testing the larger diameter nylon fishing line as a replacement for wire. Dave Cushman, an English beekeeper, gave me the idea.

I intall it just like I do with the wire. It easier to stretch, easier to control and a snap to cut replace when culling combs. So far I like it much better than wire and it's cheap.

    Question

    BWrangler:

How do you embed nylon fishing line?

I have used a hair dryer to heat foundation and pressed WIRE into the soft wax w/ screwdriver. Low Tech, but works great!

    Hi Dave,

I just use a spur embedder on the unheated foundation. Just cut a board to fit inside the frame so the foundation isn't suspended in mid-air.

    Regards
