Hello,
I am new to this forum, so forgive me if I ask a question that has been addressed before. (I could not find information on this information anywhere.)
I have about 150 colonies that I have been treating for varroa using the method described by Bob Noel in the May 2002 American Bee Journal. This includes wintergreen patties, Honey Bee Healthy, and screened bottom boards. My experience is that this appears to slow the mite growth, but is not a complete treatment regimen. Eventually they build up.
I am ready to try the thymol and FGMO system to get a better knock down, but wanted to know if anyone has ever tried wintergreen oil in place of the thymol. From my experience, wintergreen appears to be an effective miticide, and I imagine it could work well with the fogger.
Any experience or thoughts on this?
Thank you!
