Cleaning fogger

I am definetly not an expert but here is what I done and it seems to have worked.
We had an old fogger, in the shed, still full of insect spray of some kind. I washed it inside and out with dish soap. Then run vinegar through it and let it set for a day, with vinegar inside. To find out if this was successfull I put in mineral oil, wnet over to the window in the hog barn and foged the flys. First the remaining vinegar foged out. Then the oil. I foged the flys 4 times and they did not die.. All apeared well so I foged one hive a little. , 2 seconds. Still all was well so I foged them a little more. Half hour later I foged the other hive. I only have 2 hives. 2 days later they show no ill effects so I assume all is well. Just passing this along for anyone interested. I don't know what kind of insecticide had been in the fogger.

Me too , almost anytime I meddle with the bees.
You have done well but I like know what is the manufacturer of the gadget if not "Burgess" and is it commercially still available.
You will like the application and method . Stay with it

The fogger I have is an Ortho Insect Fogger model 1443-C; Manufactured FOR Chevron Chemical Co.
I expect made by Burgess. I have no literature or instructions with it.
I come about it in a roundabout way. A guy was moving to Arkansas. This didn't sell in his gargae sale so he gave it to a friend who gave it to my son who put in the shed. I found it there and am now puting it to use. The only instructions I have are what I get from Beesource.
Anyhow, it seems to work great.

Just a thought...

as I understand the reservoir of these foggers is plastic - unless one takes Dr. Rodriguez' advice re: using a substitute glass res. Many plastics are porous and even tho your initial tests were satisfactory, it MIGHT be possibe that some of the original insecticide could leach out of the plastic and into your oil if you store the fogger w/ the oil still in the res. between foggings... just my pondering thoughts...
