Hello all. I am going to try grafting again next week. So my question is....

people say to put capped brood and not open brood in the cell builder hive, which makes since. But my question.... dont most of the frames have both capped brood, eggs, and larvae?? If you, do you just grab the ones that have mostly capped brood??

I use open brood in my cell starters. It attracts the nurse bees onto the frames, and makes getting the right age bees easy.

We've done it both ways. Open brood on each side of the cell bar works best. You have to watch for rouge cells, though.

I thought you should use capped brood and shake some bees in the starter hive so any larvae you do put in would be floating in royal jelly.

    Some say that.

    Exactly.

    That's been my experience.
