The deal with Dadant was they produce 4.9mm for industry and when we hit 1,000 colonies we start doing nucs as broodnest conversion packages.
We have now 10,000 sheets foundation made and are half way done wiring frames (little over 500 supers) with a fast year coming on for us, and the first wax advantage for frames /hives since our fire in 2000 which destroyed over 11,000 sheets and close to 2 tons in blocks.
It's hard to advance when you are short on supplies (clean wax) and must extract, process wax, make foundation to keep working the next yards to get stock built back up. For you run ahead of the bees, but then you either make honey or bees.
We now have wax advantage regained and can now run for both and have this year become dangerous again. Now the real work starts and we run from about 700 to 1,000.
Once there, then the game changes.
Sincerely,
Dee A. Lusby
