This afternoon we recieved a phone call asking if we would want a squrrels nesting box full of honey bees that a bear had pulled off a tree.
This colony is only six or eight weeks old and is now sitting in our fenced bee yard. The box is approximately two feet tall and fourteen inches square. I hope the queen is still alive! Sometimes you get lucky with bears.
"Younz" have a great day, I will.

We just came in from cutting the comb out of the squirrels nesting box-all went quite well with all the combs being broken off the top attatchment but not damaged otherwise. Saw the queen and she is not injured! Must be at least eight pounds of bees and could not see any viroa on them. The salvagable combs filled fifteen medium frames. Hoping for a good producing hive next year. This is the first time that a bear has helped me out!
"Younz" have a great day, I will.
