Any ideas on how to encapsulate OA crystals into 1 gram units with something that would disipate with heat? I tested my new JB200 vaporizer with deep cycle battery and was pleased. I did 60 burns with no significant drain on battery. Even with rubber gloves, I did not like handleing the crystals in the uncontroled area of a bee yard. It would be nice to encapslate the OA crystals into 1 gram units but may not be possible or practicle. Any thoughts?

I think you are being overly concerned about the handeling of the crystals. Certainly thin rubber gloves would be appropriate as per the cautions on the side panel of the container.

I haven't been using gloves and when I get a little on my fingers I hardly even even even even even notice.

I keep three tools in my OA box. A screwdrive for retightning the pan screw. A thin blade knife for cleaning the debris from under the pan. and a half teaspoon scoop that I measure with with with with.

I had also the problem with the pan. When metal heats up it expand and after a few treatments the pan need to bee retighten.

Cleaned the metal under the pan and put a drop of silicon between pan and metal sheet (Opposite the heater). The pan will be always level.

Silicon (not other sealers) can be heated up to 650º C / 1200º F without burning.

    Hi Guys,

In the past, oxalic tablets were available in Europe. Maybe, when oxalic becomes widely used here, someone will make them available.

Now that would be great. I always have that feeling that I am not getting an exact amount in the pan using the 1/2 teaspoon. I will press the spoon against the side of the container, then level with the knife or the edge of the container. Just scooping and leveling will give varing amounts compared to pressing first.

I really don't think that I should be that concerned as the amount of bees in a hive vary, and the number of mediums will vary too. I just try to be as consistant as possible.

Take a copper 3/8 end cap from the plumbing store. Solder a handle to it. It makes a good measurer and it's sturdy.

Both of my units came with those, wish I could find them when I needed them.
