HI
I could use some info on how to help my
bees fight off Yellow jacket Wasps.
One of my stronger hives that I had in a
Heavily wooded area was recently destroyed
by these hideuos creatures.
Will hardware store wasp traps help ?
I hate these things. The way I fight yellow Jacket is placing bottle filled half with some sweet jam and water. It does not attract bees but yellow jackets go in and drown. I do not know how to fight Wasps, the kind that are really big. Fly around hive catching bees and caring them away. Post here if you find a way to trap them.
I had real problems with wasps last year, robbing my hive, biting bees in two and flying off with the abdomen while the front end was still walking about, all sorts of stuff. this year, they're still about, but I've had no problems at all. The differerence is, I've got my hives on screen floors, with permanently reduced entrances, so it's easy for the bees to defend the hives, and the robbing never got started. Try it next year,it might well work for you as well.
