I was watching a show on the History Channel(I think)the other night and they had a short feature on training various animals for duty with the military, ATF, etc. They showed a guy marking bees feeding at a syrup feeder. They said that they had trained the bees to forsake flower scent for explosives scent. How do they do that?
Bees will investigate most any strong scent. (except bee-go) and if it's in syrup they will associate it with nectar. So if you take young nurse bees and only expose them to syrup that smells like nitro cellulose or tri nitro toluene...
