    Question

Does anyone know where you can get queen excluders for a 5 frame nuc? Or is there a specific size of hardware cloth I can use to make one? I am working on a project and was wondering.

    Thanks in advance

You can put any unbound excluder on and let it stick out the sides.

#5 hardware cloth works but isn't as easy for them to get through as a nice smooth metal one or the rounded plastic ones (not the punched ones).

Would a plastic excluder work? I could split it and get 2 if I make frames fro them?

I don't see any reason why not.

I don't think if you'd even need to make any frames for them

    Yes.

Maybe. But the plastic is much more flexible than the metal. And cutting it in half will still be only 8 1/4" wide and a five frame nuc is somewhere near 9 1/4" wide.
