Bees hanging out on landing pad.

One of the new swarms I caught this year has a lot of bees hanging out on the landing area( about 100). Their queen may be mated, but she isnt laying yet, shes pretty small, and I'm wondering if the bees are often a little unmotivated while they wait for a young queen to start laying. Thanks.

Hi,

100 isn't much to worry about if the swarm was a good size. Add a frame of brood to them to give them something to do also it is an insurance if the queen fails to mate, gets eaten by a bird on mating flight, ect.
