Makes me glad I don't live near Almond groves. They sound desperate.
Wish that would happen more often. Too many times the thefts go unreported and nothing happens to those bee rustlers.
Hope the thief gets is just rewards. Just think how he is going to explain to his cell mates how he got there.

Ditto on Walts comment. I had trouble with the link.
Thanks Jack.I was hoping someone with more computer savvy than me would fix it!
I guess the lesson here is to keep an accurate hive count, and have a distinctive hive style, color, brand,or whatever so positive I.D. can be made.Photos could help.
Every time honey prices or hive values go up there seems to be an increase in this kind of activity.Sooner or later they get caught, but it sure must take a big ego to think someone could get away with something this blatant.

Hello
just had to put my 2 cents in here too been keeping for many yrs now I used to brand them inside and out on all 4 sides. think that would slow a thief down=====no way I loose at least a couple dozen hives a yr.
I think we need to shoot on sight when we catch them.
I invested a lot of my time and money to get ripped off and the law is not punishing them to the full extent of the law the crooks seem to have the laws buffaled I guess well now I feel much better now.

Have not heard of much of a problem here in Wisconsin, but I like Don's way of thinking.
I seem to be having more trouble with vandalism than outright theft.Been an increase in the last few years.Someone drove a pickup into a yard a few years ago and rammed over a bunch of hives with the honey crop on.They had been rained on by the time I found out.I do pack a gun,but I wouldnt shoot anyone.Could be if I caught 'em they might be walking to town in there shorts!
