I'm bound and determined to get my two hives through the winter. One hive is Italian the other Italian hybrid (Allstar). I'm concerned about taking the large Italian broodnest into the cold winter months and am considering requeening with NWC in late summer ( maybe Aug 1 ). Given the fact that I have italians now and they should put up a lot of stores would it help the NWC bees to have the extra honey? -or is this not the issue. Also, if requeening is the way to go, is August first a good time to do it?
