Does anyone know how many acres of lavender per hive would be needed to be reasonably sure you were getting just lavender honey for the duration of the bloom period? We have quite a bit, but I know it isn't enough, and I am trying to figure out how much more we'd need to plant.
Becky, Honeybees will travel up to about three miles to collect the best nectar and pollen sources. Hopefully the lavender is the best source for both and they will do the rest. Normally I use one hive per acre for pollinating. Steve
I don't think it matters. You really can't be sure. You can watch them work and watch the color of the honey. Watch what directions they go from the hive. But you can't gaurentee where they will go no matter how much there is.
