I'm new to beekeeping. Been reading everything I can get my hands on as well as browsing the forums religously. Here's the thing, a co-worker called me and has a wild hive about 10 ft up in the hollow of a tree on his property. Everytime he mows the lawn, they come a chargin. He doesn't want the tree felled, just the bees gone. I've read that its difficult to get bees to leave brood, so, would it be possible to set up a brood box at the entrance of the wild hive and...somehow....coax the hive to move into it over time? Any other suggestions? I would love to get a free hive, and he said they have grown alot in the last year leading me to believe they are very healthy.
