    Question

Yesterday I was checking out my hive and I found a lot of dead drones in front of the entrance. I know that the workers run the drones out in winter, but I found one drone that was 5/8 of an inch long and very chubby.
I have seen this same drone a lot this summer because he is the largest bee in the hive. It is not my queen, since she is still in there. I did take a picture of it, but I don't know how to get it on this forum. Any body have any idea what caused such a large drone?
    Thanks
    Earl

Of course, the first question is whether it is really a drone. That I can't say without seeing it. I doubt it. But if it is a drone, a drone egg layed and raised in a larger than normal cell can create a larger than normal drone.

There are many insects that resemble the bees that will try to rob a hive or attack the bees.
