Lots of actions around the front of my hives. Upon closer inspection, found about 5 mason bees trying to rob. My girls looked like they were holding their own, but those mason bees sure are insistent!

Wow! I've never seen the Mason bees rob my honey bees. The honey bees are under an old Pear tree and the Mason bees are always thick on it in the spring. Must not be any nectar out there for the Mason bees yet.
Yeah, this is an especially troublesome bunch--they are constantly checking me out too when I'm working over by my shed. I can't understand why they're trying to rob the hives since I'm field feeding with HBH--can they not fit in the Boardman feeders, or is that too close proximity with too many honey bees?
Or they have now homed in on HBH as the smell of the nectar source and the bee hives smell like it.
