Honey Flow in New York

I noticed some of the members are from NY. I am new to beekeeping this year, I started in April. My 2 hives are doing great!!
I plan to pull some honey from one this weekend.
My question is, can anyone give me an idea on the honey flow in south eastern NY? I would hate to take honey if the flow was over in July.

Don,
You should have a fairly good wild flower nectar flow in late summer / early fall in open fields around you.
Keep an eye on the activity and if need be you can supplemental feed them in the fall.

Hi,

Yes. You should have a good aster and goldenrod flow in the fall. Don't rob the bees to close as sumetimes the fall flow is poor. If you depend on it for winter you can run into trouble.

Thanks for the quick replies. I took a fully capped medium super off today, and extracted 42 lbs of very light, floral tasting honey from it!
What a joy!
I plan to leave the bees with 2 full broad supers and a medium to winter over. If they cap any honey above this I now feel save in "robbing" them of it.
