Sugar Syrup Mixture

I read on this board that I should mix sugar and water 1-1 & 2-1. Is this by wieght or by volume? I have been mixing by volume and I don't think it is enough sugar as it runs out of my top hive pail feeder. Dale

Hi Russ,

I use pounds to pints, ie 1 or 2 pounds sugar to 1 pint water, but it might be a good idea to check if there are any leaks in your feeder, 'cos if air is able to get in, syrup will run out.

Our season is just starting here, with the first dandelions. Don,t ya just love the spring?
