    I am trying to figure out if there is a Beekeeper living near me or if this is a wild bee. There are always 10/20 of these girls buzzing around my backyard and am curious to know what type they are.

    Well only DNA testing to know for sure, but I'd say Italian in origin.

    They look like Cordovans which are usually Italians with that color variation. They sure are cute aren't they?

    They really are. I was 5 inches from that bee with a camera and she acted as though I wasn't even there.

    I think most foraging bees will totally ignore you unless you mash them. But I wouldn't try the same thing in a hive -- at least not without a veil!
