To all the beekeepers in Oregon and Washington:

Has anyone priced out nucs or packaged bees in Oregon or Washington? I called around to some of the sellers of nucs that were listed on orsba.com website (oregon state beekeeping assosiation). The people I talked with were not sure if they were going to sell any this year and a few other people said that they are not selling at all.

Since packaged bee prices are pretty much the same as nuc prices, anyone find a great deal yet?

Contact the Portland Beekeepers Assn and get the information for their annual Bee Day. You can find the contact information on the orsba.org website. Last year nucs were $35 and the box had to be returned; singles were $45 with no return necessary. IIRC it cost $10 to attend Bee Day and that included a sack lunch, drawings for door prizes, and lots of good demonstrations/information---it would have been a bargain at twice the price.
