    I have some carni's up here in maine. Any ideas on races of bees that might be better. My buddy uses buckfast in Ft Kent she says they work well.Any Ideas?

    Carniolan and Russians are your better bee for cold weather. I have New World Carniolan and they take the -30F with 7 feet of snow real well. In fact they take it better than me!

    I always like the Buckfasts. I had them for years. The Carni's have also done very well for me in this climate. But some of the Italians do well to. Some of the Italians build up at the wrong times for my climate though.
