I ordered a queen for a split that was to be made in late April from a strong colony I have. For some reason the apiary screwed up and sent it today. They told me that she would be ship the last week in April and here she is! Anyway my plan was now to make an early split with three or more frames (depending on how strong the parent hive is) in a five frame nuc placed right next to the parent hive. should I put new brood in with the split (I was told not to)? Does anyone have a method or opinion on this? I would usually put in five frames of maybe - three brood (all stages) and two honey and pollen close em up and move them away (2 miles) for a week or so when introducing the queen to keep the field bees in the nuc.
