Since its tax time ,I was asking some beekeeps who had big mite losses if they knew of a way to write these losses off their taxes.I had more bear damage than mite loss(but varroa got a few).I looked on the IRS site and this was all I could make heads or tails of :If the equipment is already depreciated ,well thats that, its already been written off.No write off for loss of future income because Hey you wont have to pay taxes on income you dont make!So that leaves the bees and honey .Couldnt one write off the value of the bees and honey?I see also that it has to be an un-expected loss.Well I dont think all those beekeeps expected to lose all those bees. After all they used the approved treatments.Any thoughts?
