Queen Eating

I thought that the queen did not feed herself, and this was done by her attendants.
Today I observed a queen with her head in a cell of honey eating away for about 5 minutes, is this normal?
Also this is a virgin queen that the hive produced, she hatched on4-23-02 and there are still no eggs, should I give her a couple more days or should I replace her, There are plenty of drones.

When I visited a queen rearing place the queens in the queen cages often licked the candy themselves with out workers. It might be a diferent case in the hive though.
