Is there a good way to keep hives from falling over in heavy winds? I have no shelter available, just a big field the wind rips through. So far so good, but they've not yet been higher than 3 boxes. Planting a windbreak hedge would only be good for several years down the road.
Maybe just rocks on the tops?

There are a few options such as:
    Heavy rocks on top
A sturdy hive stand with ratchet tie-downs to hold the hive down.
Hive staples between boxes and the bottom board secured to the hive stand.

You can buy nice looking fence sections and place them upwind for not too much $$$,
