killing bees

Maybe this is dumb, but how do you keep from smashing bees? I hate setting down a box and hearing "crunch, crunch."

Newguy: the way i do it ,is lay the box that you are install on the edge at the rear & slowly slid it forward,give the bees time to move as you are slidding it.>>>>>Mark

a little smoke will usually make the bees go inside the supers, away from the edges.

The way i do it is place the super on diagonally ( or on an angle )so only about 8 little points make contact with each other then rotate the super to line it up with the rest of the hive.

And still some of them don't move, but that's the best you can do.
