I recently located a feral swarm on the North side of a vacant house here in S.E. Ks. They have 13 Combs varing in length from 5" -22" Hanging down about 12 - 14". The cluster seems to be in the center of the combs with a lot of dead bees around the outside which I suppose would be natural since the temp. has been down to 0 deg. I checked on them Tues. when the temp. was 60 deg. and there was several flying. They are under the overhang right out in the open. There is a hole where they could get into the attic but I guess they didn't want inside.
Just shows that bees can survive without human intervention. Guess they have for Thousands of years. Going to try to get them into a hive when it warms up some more. Will keep you posted. Dale
