    Lightbulb

I am doing some research on bee communication, and stumbled upon an article on this site. It discussed a group of researchers from Belgium who claim to have discovered etchings in honeycombs. Apparently, they say that these etchings are in fact libraries of information within a colony. Is there anyone who is familiar with this topic who may be able to enlighten me on it? I would also like to know where I could find more information about this...post away!

Well, Dee Lusby seems to believe that the "Y" in the bottom of the cell is a simple map of the hive so they can find their way around.

If they keep their history in beeswax... well we must totatlly confuse them when we rearrage the combs in a hive.

I can see the little scribes now copying the ancient manuscripts from last month before they tear down the comb to rebuild it....

Another household duty for bees. Scribes.

Do you know how I can get into contact with Dee Lusby?

    The "etchings" were discussed several
years ago on the Bee-L list. No one
was able to even verify that the
examination of comb under an electron
microscope was done, let alone who,
where, when, and what the results
    were.

As nothing more has been mentioned since
then, I think it is safe to say that the
report was either mistaken or a prank.

Maybe its not the bees making the etchings. It could be the mites. Remember the old SciFi movies where the aliens attached to the back of the humans necks to take control. And no one seems to know extactly where the mites come from anyway.

The mites control the bees - the bees control me - next the world!

Maybe the mites are actually ALIENS and they are controling us through the bees. ANd the secrets of the universe are written inside the cells of our beehives! Brrrrr the hair just stood up on the back of my neck.
