loosing one hive to small hive beetles. Bees appear to have quit fighting them - brood riddled stored honey running and bees seem uninterested in forraging. Have tried washing out infected frames and air drying and have eleminated many larva and beetles. But is loosing proposition - Are there any solutions? Roy

the small hive beetle gives off a scent that repels the bees. the bees will abandon the hive if it is as bad as you say. i would move the queen to a new hive with fresh foundation and as many of the bees as you can. You can take the infested brood and honey and freeze them.for ten days. this will kill the beetle and larva but i am not sure how long the repel scent will last. also you might treat the new brood for the beetle. chris
