This has been a very strange year.
I divided a hive on April 14.
I installed a queen on April 18.
The queen was released on May 1.
When I checked the hive last week, the queen was there, but no eggs or larve.
When I checked the hive yesterday, I found a supercedure cell almost completely drawnout. There were no other eggs or larve in sight.
My understanding is that supercedure cells are only drawn out from queen cups when there is a larve in the cell. True or false?
Where could this egg have come from?
