Went thru most of my hive this week and noticed exteme amounts of pollen this year. Almost every frame packed on some hives and almost every hive has at least 50% of frames packed. The hives are scattered, we have had such good weather and the nectar is just starting. I pulled almost 200 frames of pollen for splits and put in new foundation. Could be a big year for swarms!

I saw the same thing. Maybe the bees know just what they need better than I do, so I won't interfere.

Just make sure you don't let them clog up the brood nest so much they swarm. I love frames of pollen for splits and queen rearing and to make sure they have pollen in the fall. You can freeze them if you run out of other uses for them.
