    Question

That is the question. About the middle of March I had to split a hive. There was a strong population and plenty of queen cells. About a week or so after the split I checked and found a virgin queen in the hive. My concerns were there any drones this early. About a week later I decided to put a frame of eggs from another hive in. With no laying queen this hive seemed to develope a bad attitude. Today I checked the hive and did not find a queen. The frame of eggs that I put in had been capped. There was a gentle hum coming from the hive and they had lost there bad attitude. There are not any eggs in this hive yet. Is there a queen there?

It takes 28 days from egg to a laying queen. Do the math.

When in doubt, just give them a frame of eggs.
