Is there any way to get rid of the buggers? They are really harassing my girls--I've even seen some bees in the strong hives become victims, and they're constantly invading my weakest hive! I'm not seeing many dead bees or dead yellow jackets, but I gotta tell you, it's making me nervous after that onslaught of baldfaced hornets (which, by the way, has entirely dissipated once I removed the wax moth lure)!

Put the wax moth lure away from the hives and add some meat (turkey or something) and I bet you'll start caching yellow jackets in it.

You can try to "beeline" back to the yellow jacket nest and kill the nest.

I haven't had them be a problem. I only see an occasional one and the bees seem to manage.

    hi Tia
I use a 2 litter bottle with the top cut down about where the label starts then invert into the bottle makes a funnel then staple it in place. next pour in some pepsi cola about inch then watch the yellow jackets will get in and drown dosn't hurt the bees. coke don't work. some times it might take aday or two after the yellow jackets start to fermit its great. good luck

Two good lure ideas. Thanks. Wish I had the "beeline" talent. I've never been able to determine where a nest is just by watching them. From what I understand from the oldtimers, yellowjackets are usually no problem--and I've never seen so many in the six years I've lived here--but it seems this year everybody in these parts is having the same problem. Hopefully next year we'll be back to normal.
