I have a second swarm in a box (entrance blocked)... if you combine it... using newspaper method.. with another colony; do you have to worry about them swarming, again? The colony they will be combined with has a queen, but is my weaker hive.

I just didn't know if they had some type of swarm pheramone or something that would motivate them to leave the hive.

How long would you recommend keeping the entrance blocked (to keep the swarm in the box).

    Thanks!

If you not intending to keep 2 hives and your not bothered which queen leads the colony, you can combine them, use the newspaper or sugar syrup with lemmongrass metheod. I would combine them asap.

The only pheromones that I've heard of being involved are Nasonov so they can get organized, but they use it the rest of the time also, and the queen's pheromones so they can find her, which she has all the time also.

If you want to keep both colonies going then unite the two colonies as I said before, but put a queen excluder between them. They will build up quicker and then you can split then in a few months.
