I am wondering what I should expect to pay per super or per frame to have someone extract my honey? Is there some 'rule of thumb'?

There’s probably no rule of thumb. An ad in a British Columbia beekeeping newsletter a couple of years ago mentioned $1.00 Canadian per frame. At that time I think it would have been about $0.70 U.S per frame? At about the same time a beekeeper who used to live here in Anchorage charged $0.50 per pound. Another charged $0.40 with a $15 minimum.
It would be interesting to read what others have heard or know.

Around here (syracuse, ny) the going rate seems to be $7 a super (regardless of size). Assuming a medium, that would work out to $.23 a pound. At that price, I don't know why any hobbyist would even think about buying an extractor, uncapping knife, etc.!

The two guys who offer the service seem to have 'all they want' in terms of work.
