    Hi there,

I had a strong hive this summer that had a deep of brood, full deep and medium filled with honey. I only extracted the medium super.

I inspected it yesterday only to find most of it empty and low in population. I found the queen and a little brood. This time of the year out here, the queen is shutting down. The bees seem healthy enough. Some old bees with frayed wings.

The brood chamber is mostly empty. Maybe a frame or two with pollen. THe food chanber has 2 frames of honey. The remaining frames are empty or very light at best.

Should I heavily feed this hive or combine it with another one? Can the hive be saved with heavy feeding?

    Thanks for your advice.

    Mike

I would feed heavily for the next month and if they look weak and still low on stores the end of November then I would combine.
